Add Your First Device

Devices are the core of Netory. Each device stores the information you need to understand your network at a glance — and prevent IP conflicts before they happen.

  1. Open a location and tap + to add a device
  2. Enter a descriptive name (e.g. “Living Room Apple TV”, “NAS — Main Storage”)
  3. Add the IP address the device uses
  4. Add the MAC address — used for DHCP reservations and identifying the device on your router
  5. Assign a room (optional but recommended)
  6. Assign to an IP pool if you have one set up
  7. Add any notes (e.g. “DHCP reservation set”, “Port 32400 forwarded”)
  8. Tap Save

Room assignment groups devices by physical space — Server Rack, Living Room, Office Desk. When you’re troubleshooting something at 11pm, knowing the physical location of a device matters.

MAC address is shown in your router’s device list and in the network settings of the device itself. It’s worth recording even if you don’t need it immediately.

IP pool assignment lets Netory track utilisation across your defined ranges. If you haven’t created a pool yet, you can add the device without one and assign it later.

  • iOS / Android devices — see Settings → Wi-Fi → tap the network → look for IP Address and Wi-Fi Address (MAC)
  • Router admin panel — most routers list connected devices with their IP and MAC address
  • macOS — System Settings → Network → Details → TCP/IP tab
