Tasks

The Tasks module is TAP’s core habit tracker. Each task repeats on a schedule you define, tracks a streak, and can be completed by tapping your iPhone to an NFC sticker — no app required.

Tap + on the Tasks screen and fill in:

  • Name — what the task is
  • Repeat interval — how often it should recur (see below)
  • Times per interval — how many completions count as done within each interval
  • Reminder time(s) — one or more times to be notified, or “Anytime” to disable scheduled reminders
  • Accent colour — used for the status dot and history display
SettingMeaning
12 hrsResets twice daily
1 dayResets every day
2 daysResets every 2 days
3 daysResets every 3 days
WeeklyResets every 7 days
2 weeksResets every 14 days
MonthlyResets every 30 days

Set Times per interval higher than 1 if you want to complete a task multiple times per cycle — for example, drinking water 3 times a day, or taking medication twice daily.

The task shows progress as “2/3 DONE” and only counts as fully complete — and increments the streak — when all required completions in the interval are met.

Each task shows a status dot with one of three states:

ColourStatusMeaning
GreenOn trackCompleted within expected timeframe
YellowDue soon80% through the interval without a completion
RedOverdue150% past the due point without a completion

Reminders fire at the times you specify. After you complete a task, TAP reschedules the next reminder automatically. Notifications are planned up to 21 days ahead.

To disable reminders for a specific task, set it to Anytime — the task stays active but sends no scheduled notifications.

Each task has a 98-day dot matrix showing your completion history, grouped by month:

Dot appearanceMeaning
Filled (accent colour)Fully completed — all required completions met
Outlined (accent colour)Partially completed — some completions, not all
RedMissed — task was due but not completed
Dark greyNot due that day, or before the task was created
Dot with ringToday

The history also shows your current streak and overall completion rate.

Each task can be linked to one or more NFC stickers. Once linked, tap your iPhone to the sticker to mark the task complete — no unlocking or opening TAP needed.

To pair a sticker:

  1. Open the task
  2. Tap the NFC TAG card
  3. Tap Manage
  4. Hold your iPhone near a blank NTAG213 sticker

TAP writes the task link to the sticker. If the sticker is already linked to a different task, TAP will ask if you want to reassign it.

Recommended sticker: NTAG213 (~$10 for 50 on Amazon). Any NFC-compatible iPhone (XS or later) works.
